Professional Development Workshops

Adventure Science Center offers professional development opportunities that help you teach standards-based science that will engage your students, and build your content knowledge on a variety of science topics. The education team at ASC is committed to sharing fresh ideas and finding low-cost lessons that add excitement to your science classroom. GRIDS, GAMES, SHAPES AND MORE
Professional Development at your school
Recommended for teachers in grades 4 and up
Help students see, use and understand math in new ways by encouraging them to observe and interpret everyday math encounters using art, music, sports, buildings and common objects. Participate in problem-solving activities designed to help students practice estimation, data collection, measurement of distance, weight and volume, graphing, and the design of scale models and other visual representations of data. Take home a packet that includes activities and suggestions for including real-life math activities in the classroom and in after-school programs. This is a two-hour workshop for up to 10 teachers in your school. The ASC fee to have this workshop at your school is $150 plus mileage.

BUILD A RENEWABLE ENERGY CLASSROOM LAB
Professional Development at your school or at ASC
Recommended for teachers in grades 4 and up
Let ASC show you how to create a renewable energy lab in your classroom using reusable, low-cost materials. Experiment with wind turbine blade shapes and sizes to generate electricity. Experience some of the problem-solving challenges engineers face when designing efficient, renewable energy technologies. This is a two-hour workshop for up to 10 teachers in your school. The ASC fee to have this workshop at your school is $150 plus mileage.
