Nashville, TN (August 2, 2007) - Plug into environmental science and discover how you can help the earth during Adventure Science Center’s Green Science event on August 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The day will feature interactive presentations and fun activities aimed at teaching kids about how they can positively impact the environment.

Local environmentally-friendly businesses have partnered with the Science Center to present interactive demonstrations throughout the day. Demonstrations include:

  • Earth-friendly Cooking: Chef Pete Prosser, owner of Chef Tested, will cook up samples of tasty organic food teaching kids that organic food is not only good for the body, but good for the environment too.
  • Green Power Documentary: “Kilowatt Ours,” produced by The Southern Energy Conservation Initiative, will help visitors discover how they can save hundreds of dollars on energy bills. Showings will take place throughout the day and will be followed by a question and answer session with a representative from Southern Energy Conservation.
  • Eco-Building: Local builder Erik Daugherty will exhibit green building products and demonstrate home outlet installation.
  • Climate Presentation: Adventure Science Center educators will lead presentations that will help kids understand what climate change is, why it is happening, and what they can do about it.

Visitors can also participate in stimulating, sustainable eco-friendly floor activities throughout the day:

  • Recycling: Kids will discover the importance and impact of recycling. A recyclable material sorting activity and recyclable craft making station, will also remind kids that reusing can also be fun.
  • Wind Power Station: Visitors will be blown away by this exciting exhibit as they learn all about wind power generators, paper windmills and other alternative power sources.
  • Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb (CFL) and Incandescent Bulb Comparison: You’ll light up when you see how much energy you could be saving with a CFL bulb.
