Nashville, TN (June 5, 2007) - The Adventure Science Center will be crawling with dinosaur trails, scales and tales on Saturday, June 16 during the Center’s first Dino Fear Factor, a dinosaur-inspired competition that tests the minds and bodies of participants during three levels of challenges.

The three Dino Fear Factor challenges include:

  • Dino Trivia: Avoid extinction during this phase of competition. Visitors can participate in an interactive trivia game show that tests their dino knowledge. New games will begin every hour on the half hour.
  • Horns and Tails: In this colossal obstacle course, participants will be challenged to complete the course without letting their dinosaur horns or tails touch any part of it. The course will be open all day.
  • Dino Café: The Dino Café will be serving up full plates of whipped cream containing hidden gummy surprises. Find out if you are a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore based on what kinds of treats you discover! The café is also open all day.

Those who complete all three phases of the competition will receive a prize.

“Dino Fear Factor lets visitors walk around in the massive footprints of their favorite prehistoric creatures and explore the mysterious world they inhabited,” said Christy Whitney, public events manager for Adventure Science Center. "During an action-packed day, the Center demonstrates that dinosaurs weren’t just fossils and bones. They were living, breathing moving creatures that faced both extraordinary and everyday challenges as they struggled to survive.”

Adventure Science Center has planned several additional interactive floor activities, which will take place throughout the day at the Science Center:

  • Dino Skin Mystery Boxes: See, feel and examine dinosaur skins and other animal coverings.
  • Arts and Crafts: Create your own dinosaur magnet to take home and display on the refrigerator.
  • Calculate the Weight Experiment: Use a real paleontologist’s formula to determine the actual weight of your favorite dinosaurs.
  • Dino Stride: Compare your own foot size and length of stride with actual-size dinosaur prints.
  • Dino Tattoo: Stop by this station and receive a temporary tattoo of your favorite dinosaur.

Dino Fear Factor is part of the Center’s DinoRumble summer. DinoRumble, an interactive dinosaur exhibit, features both permanent and traveling dinosaur exhibits that will be on display through Sunday, September 30. Below is a list of some of the interactive exhibits visitor’s can enjoy during Dino Fear Factor:

  • What’s-in-a-Name: This interactive station teaches visitors how to break down a dinosaur’s name in order to understand what it means.
  • Dinosaur Personality Test: Visitors will be able to take a personality test to find out what type of dinosaur they might have been. Some questions include - “Do you eat meat?” or “Do you prefer to be in a group or alone?”
  • Skin Texture Rubbing: Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about different types of dinosaur skin through this hands-on activity.

Dino Fear Factor is included in regular Adventure Science Center admission price. For more information on Dino Fear Factor or any Adventure Science Center events, call Christy Whitney at (615) 401-5065.
