Teacher’s Night Out at ASC
Friday, October 3, 2008, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
It’s a social, it’s all about science, it’s all for you! Here's your chance to be a child: to play, to discover, to experience the excitement of the Adventure Science Center - without the responsibility of supervising your students. Wear comfy clothes as you renew, reawaken, rekindle, and revitalize your enthusiasm for science and teaching. Slide the slides, ride the rides, and explore the exhibits with reckless abandon!
Teacher’s Night Out at ASC is also a terrific opportunity to explore the new exhibits in Space Chase and take a trip out of this world in the new, state-of-the-art and world-class Sudekum Planetarium.
So, grab, pester, encourage, kidnap, lasso, seize, or drag your adult teacher friends along on this special opportunity to join in the fun! And remember, it’s teachers only, so no one but other teachers will see you behaving like a child!
HOW TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATION: Admission to TEACHER’S NIGHT OUT is free to K-12th grade teachers and reservations are required. You may bring one adult guest/significant other such a spouse, if desired. Only one extra adult guest per teacher may come. (Children and other family members will have to survive without you for the evening!). To make your reservation, send an email to openhouse@adventuresci.com and include in the body of the message your name, your guest's name, grade level, school name, school website. If your guest is another teacher, please indicate and list the teacher information in the email.
On October 3, plan to bring a proof of school id, teacher license, or any other photo id that tells us that you are a K- 12 teacher.
Beverages and snacks for Teacher’s Night Out are sponsored by our friends at Cornerstone Financial Credit Union.
The annual TWISTER hands-on workshops hosted by Adventure Science Center increases the interest of young women in math and science through positive, hands-on experiences. The event fosters awareness of career opportunities in math and science related careers, provides young women with opportunities to meet with positive role models who are active in math and science related careers, and involves young women with limited opportunities for success in positive experiences in math and science. TWISTER serves as an intervention strategy designed to nurture girls' interest in mathematics and science courses and to encourage them to expand their career visions to include science and math based careers. TWISTER is for young women currently in 9th - 12th grade. >>
